Carlotta Bag
20" x 16"
this tote bag combines techniques of sewing & crochet to mimic a patchwork quilt block while translating it into a classic granny square block. the Carlotta Bag is the fraternal twin of the Edna Bag, as this bag has fabric stars sewn onto crochet while the Edna Bag has crochet stars sewn onto fabric.
the bag itself uses 100% recycled cotton materials, with the lining being a light blue t-shirt, the sides utilizing the front pockets of denim jeans, the front being a combination of cotton yarn scraps & denim scraps, the back being a piece of quilted cotton fabric, and the straps being the waistband of denim jeans. this sturdy bag can take on anything you put it through, and is perfect for any outfit that you want to pair with a handmade patriotic bag.
completed for my AMERICAN PIE COLLECTION for my SCAD FIBR 345 class, this bag was made as part of a collection of 5 bags to reminisce over a lost time in American culture, thinking back to the days of don mcleand song “american pie” which reminds me of my childhood in the truck with my dad going fishing with my great grandad or taking the trash off to the dump in his truck and stopping at the gas station to get a root beer in a glass bottle.
